Mick Heatley
Bass, Backing Vocals

Mick writes about sport and music for a living, and penned a best-selling biography of John Peel. His previous spell as a musician lasted between 1978 and 1983, when he played in D-Notice, Good Question, Compulsion, the Beirut City Rollers and the Decoys. He is a big fan of progressive music, most notably Welsh band Man, whom Funkee Clawed supported on their third gig.

He also plays with Somethin' Else (http://www.myspace.com/thesomethinelse), a six-piece soul/pop band based near Eastleigh, Hants, with whom he's done more gigs than any of the other bands he's been in. His biggest press coverage was in Woman's Own in 1981 when he starred in a feature on How to have the Best Royal Wedding Street Party ever (tip 7 - get yourself a band). Mick also auditioned and rejected future chart-topping singer Eddi Reader; thankfully she has forgiven him.

He is enjoying his mid-life crisis and hopes you do too.
